THE MICHELLE DIAS AWARD – CITT/ICTS ALBERTA PARTNERSHIP

Theatre Alberta is pleased to partner with CITT Alberta to offer an additional Michelle Dias Community Service Award! This fourth award is open to CITT Alberta members who are dedicated to supporting their community and to sharing their knowledge with colleagues and peers.

ABOUT MICHELLE DIAS

Michelle Dias was deeply involved in Theatre Alberta’s educational programming, having been instrumental in the creation of Safe Stages, our health and safety resource for theatres, as well as working with us frequently as an instructor. In addition to Michelle’s contributions to Theatre Alberta programs, Michelle was Head of Props for Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity from 1996-2004. Michelle worked at Banff during the summer months, the rest of the year she was an integral part of the Citadel Theatre production team. At the Citadel, Michelle was the Head of Scenic Paint from Sept 1995 until her passing in September 2011.

ABOUT THE AWARD

  • $2,500 for an individual to attend a professional development opportunity relevant to their theatre practice/discipline. May include related travel or personal costs if applicable.
  • Applicants must be a current resident of Alberta and a member of CITT/ICTS Alberta Section.
  • Professional development may occur anywhere (virtual or in-person).
  • Award is open to theatre artists of all experience levels, disciplines, and backgrounds.
  • Applicants must be adults, over the age of 18.
  • We encourage applications from artists who self-identify as members of under-represented communities.

APPLICATION PACKAGES SHOULD INCLUDE

  • A theatre resume that outlines experience particularly pertinent to your work in the Albertan theatre community.
  • A cover letter that outlines your commitment to the Alberta theatre community, how you have shared your knowledge with colleagues and peers, what professional development opportunity you plan to pursue using the award, and why it is integral to your ongoing artistic work in Alberta.
  • Confirmation of professional development from training institution, host organization, or mentor.
  • Confirmation of membership status with CITT.
